First up: Halloween! Let me just say... my original costume was a bust, so I had to quickly come up with plan b. I was supposed to be Baby Spice, from the Spice Girls, alongside four of my friends... BUT we ran out of time. So we all improvised and did our own thing. After taking forever to get ready, we headed down to Piccadilly Circus and met up with our classmates. We ended staying there until three am. Talking, dancing, and taking lots of photos. It was a really good time!
After Halloween weekend, it was back to reality. It was midterm week(s). First up was our economics midterm. This was brutal. You were given a case and then had to answer four questions about the case, using concepts we learned in class. After this three hour exam, my brain was fried. But the next day I had to hit the books again, because less than a week away was my Accounting midterm. I basically lived at uni, because Accounting is a different language to me. Luckily, my friend Peter, who is amazing at Accounting, stayed after class each day and helped me and two other people. He basically retaught us everything in his own words and it made so much more sense. I seriously owe him a gift basket or something. Hell-week wasn't over just yet. I had my Business Math midterm next. I honestly thought this was going to be a piece of cake. I opened up the file and immediately had a breakdown. I'm not even joking. But after hours and hours of working on it, I finally finished the assignment. After that midterm, I never want to make a forecast again.
In between two of the midterms, I was asked to go hiking by some MBA friends. I didn't even hesitate to say yes. We met early Saturday morning and hopped on a train and headed towards Southease. Our plan was to hike 6 miles from Southease to Lewes and then head home. As soon as we stepped off the train and watched it pull away... it started pouring. Not only was it raining, but it was also cold and very windy. It was not fun. I still haven't gotten a waterproof jacket yet (because I use my umbrella in the city), so I got soaked instantly. But we kept on going and man, was it worth it. The views were amazing. There was green everywhere. We walked with cows and sheep and horses. It was breathtaking. After a few hours, we reached a crossroad and we didn't know which way was the correct way. We turned left, little did we know that we needed to go right. We walked down a road for a while and came across a little village. Literally... there was a church, a barn, and a small pub. We went into the pub and had the most English meal I've ever had. After lunch we got back on the trail and headed towards Lewes, or so we thought. We got so lost. Our cell service wasn't working. It was raining and cold. AND it was getting dark. I'm not going to lie, I was getting pretty nervous and scared, because 1) I hate the dark, 2) we're six college students lost in the middle of nowhere *cue any scary movie ever (!!!)*. We found a highway and finally had cell service. We called a cab company and got picked up 20 minutes later. When we got into Lewes, we looked at ourselves and just laughed. We were soaking wet, covered in mud and completely exhausted from walking 13 miles. YES THIRTEEN MILES. Lesson of the day? Don't turn left.
To wrap this up, I spent the weekend with friends, relaxing at a couple house parties. Everyone was finally done with midterms and a drink was much needed and well deserved. Now here's to a brand new week! Goodnight, yall.
